Farm Trip

For our writing piece we created a narrative. I really enjoyed creating mine. We had to write about something on a farm, and what a typical day would look like for the object. I decided to write about a pig. I know a lot about farms, because my parents use to live on a farm, so I was knowledgeable about life on the farm in general. I enjoyed the freedom to write about anything, and it was fun to picture how someone or something else walks through life daily.

I experienced many new things today. One of which was watching blacksmithing. I knew what it was, but I had never seen it before. I thought it was really cool. The guy was putting holes in the metal so they could hang it up. I would like to try that sometime. I also pet the sheep for the first time. I’ve seen them before, but I was never allowed to pet them. They felt a lot different than I expected. Kind of like a sponge actually. Living on a farm helps you to live deliberately, because you are not only responsible for your actions, but others. Farmers have many chores so they have to make many choices. They need to make sure they choose the best choice that benefits the most.

Today we went to Carriage Hill. Carriage hill is a farm with many learning experiences. First we went to the blacksmithing shop. The guy was really nice and showed us some of the basics. We also saw sheep and donkeys. Then we ventured to the creek. The rocks hurt against my feet, so I tried to stay on the flat ones. Everything was going well until we saw a snake. We ran back to the bridge and ventured to the graveyards. The equipment graveyard was actually very pretty. Then we visited the family graveyard and read the story, it was very sad. We went back for lunch and ate a lot of candy, maybe too much. Then my friends pranked me and I had asthma attack. It was really funny.

Writing Prompt:

I wake up and smell the glorious smell of the mud. I join my fellow pig friends and roll around. We spend hours playing until…slop time! I love slops! Such a delicious feast. It looks like apples, and carrots, and leftover meat! I chow down as the food disappears before my eyes. Uh oh, the farmer is walking with one of my friends. Whenever they take one of us down the path, they never return. I wonder what happens to them… I always hear squealing. The remainder of my friends return to the mud for a nice long nap. I wake up to the smell of slops. I love them! Leftover dinner means dessert too! Looks like apple pie. The farmer is teaching his 10-year old daughter how to clean the animals. It is adorable. She attempts to clean the dirt off. A half an hour later they finish and the sunset comes out. I lay down and look at the beauty, as I smell the flowers, which puts me to sleep.
