Today we created a nature journal. I have never created one before, so I learned a lot of important things about them. It’s nice if you are able to add color when you make one. It’s also recommended you write a description and draw a sketch of what you encounter in nature. When you write your description be sure to include the five senses. This really helped me to make my observations. I observed a very intriguing tree, and a bird. Here is a typed version of my observations:

​Tree...

• The bark is extremely prickly, and it peels when you attempt to touch it. The tree bark is very green compared to the surrounding tree’s bark. It also has a big hollow where wildlife can live. I can easily hear the leaves swaying in the wind. The tree smells like the familiar greenery smell. The smell of the bark is really strong as well.

Bird…

• I was unable to touch the bird because it was wild. However, I heard it make this huge squawking sound. The bird smells really dirty, considering it is in its cage with the half devoured prey. The bird is about the size of an eagle, except its black. I noticed it looks like it’s wearing a red skull on its face. It isn’t really, but I though its appearance was cool.   

   

    I started off today by hiking with two of my other friends. We planned on walking to the water testing area. It was really fun hiking. We noticed it had been an hour and half, and we still had not reached the water testing area. We soon discovered that we had past the testing area. I enjoyed discovering though. We met up with our friends and we discovered that the water was very healthy. So we took a lunch break, and some of us went up to swim. I stayed in the hammock and finished the journal. I had a great time today. I want to come back to the Narrows sometime soon.
