Second Day- Cox Arboretum
Today we created a Haiga poem. I had trouble coming up with ideas at first, but I was able to create a poem by using the picture of the lake I took yesterday. I had never heard of a Haiga poem before, but I was able to understand the concept fairly easily. They are similar to a Haiku poem, but they emphasize font and nature especially. My final product is the image to the right.
After we created the poem, we traveled to our first location, Cox arboretum. Before we left our teachers gave us a scavenger hunt to make the most of our trip. At the end of the trip I managed to find every item! We climbed all of the stairs to the top of the tower. It was such an amazing view! We also saw many animals such as; fish, squirrels, possums, butterflies, various birds, turtles, frogs, and all sorts of insects. One thing that I noticed today was that there are many plants you can eat. I knew you could fruit, but there was so much more that I learned you could eat today. There were even flowers that were edible. Spending time in an arboretum can help us live deliberately by teaching us how much of our lifestyle connects to nature. From exploring in the quiet woods to climbing the high tower. Even from the food we eat.
We started our group’s journey by visiting the butterfly garden. We saw this huge moth. It was ginormous! We also visited the tower. We walked up many stairs, but the view definitely paid off. You could see everything! We also visited the edible garden. I ate mint, horseradish, and flower petals. I was blown away you could eat the petals. My friends and I pretended we were having a cooking segment for our blog. It was hilarious. Then I split away from the group to go on a hike with one of my other friends. We explored the trails, it was awesome. We saw animal skull while we were hiking. It was very eerie. I slid down one of the sides, but we ended up discovering a waterfall in the creek. It was awesome! Overall, 10/10 trip. I learned a lot. Goodbye for now!
